Catching the Bus- Goa

Suffering Succotash! As Lalitha said.

I am such a lazy bum. Lazy I tell you. Goa was a blast. So much fun. And I'm too comatose to write about it all. Or even upload pics on Facebook so that long suffering friends can see them.
Even now my fingers are dragging themselves across the keyboard in mild protest at the labour they're being put through.

Anyway since this post is supposed to be about Goa, I'll get on with it.

We almost missed the bus to Goa in the first place. Yeah.
Bus leaves at 7.30pm. We're stuck in traffic and its effing seven forty.
I'm convinced we've missed it and am hyperventilating.
Snum's trying to calm me down on the way to the bus station ("Ay those buses no... they're always half an hour late... minimum.")
Osho's already mildy motion sick (minus the throwing up).

We're coming up with Plan B's ("Okay okay... What we'll do is, we'll camp out at Osh's hostel for the next five days. Okay? We'll like, get fake tans, take some rigged photos, buy a coupla Goa T shirts and just say we went. That way our parents wont kill us, and we'll go on to lead the lives we were otherwise meant to. Okay? Fine? Cool.")

We get to Majestic. Late. I bound into the station with my luggage, almost breaking my arm in the process. Osh and Snum follow. I frantically sidestep sewage, asking people in Kannada where platform number 1A is. (I love being the competent one among us who knows the local language. Ha ha. Didnt like it a bit when it all that reversed in Goa where we'd to communicate in Hindi.)

They point somewhere, we look.
It's the platform farthest away from us. (Well, obviously.)
And there's a big AC bus just leaving from it.

"Thats the one Osh! Thats the bus!" I scream.
I feel a whoosh of air against me as Osho ROCKETS past, all motion sickness vanished, her strolley thundering after her. Snum gives me an amused look and sprints off after her. I totter forward at a slower pace. I figure they'll make the bus wait anyway.
I lose track of them. Couple minutes later, I spot them standing near the platform. Their expressions are unfathomable.
Was that a smile? Or a grimace?
Will the next five days be Galavanting in Goa or Hiding in Hostel?

Turns out they were just catching their breath. Too busy panting to look happy or relieved.
We hadnt missed it (Surprise! There's something you didnt expect) In fact, the bus hadnt even arrived at Majestic yet. Snum's bull turned out to be true. This time at least.
All that running around like headless chickens for nothing.

(NB: Yes, I do understand that technically, we didnt "almost miss the bus", but as mentioned earlier, I am currently too lazy a state to think of any other way to refer to it)

yea, same case with buses all over.
but taking a bus all the way to Goa must have been one vanti-filled trip? coz roads in Karnataka are _bad_ from what i've seen.
as for me, im sick of crossing the ghats from suratkal to bangalore in overnight eight-hour trips that invaribly stretch to fourteen-hour journeys thanks to the awesome condition of the highway.(as you mighta guessed, this is one of those things i'll crib to anyone who'll listen, and anyone who won't).
and *wicked grin* it sure feels to be good knowing the localslanguage when the rest don't.
and i dont speak great hindi either.

Pink.

Don't say that it's magenta or mauve or something like that.

It's really hard to get past it to actually read anything, you know.

@ Lalitha: It's a mouse, I think. Look, it's even got a hole in the back ground! :D

Maggie's killed three of those recently... she really needs a bath...

I second that. I want to go to Goa too! Instead, I'm stuck here.

@Magenta Whatever. :P It's hard on the eyes even when not called pink.

I like Majenta! It better than green (hint hint La)!!

how on earth did you live in your room if you hated green that much?! it's a nice pleasant colour, ok? pha! especially when there's a green grasshopper sitting on it...

P.S, reduce the brightness of your monitor. Maybe that'll help. I can't believe I'm getting used to pink. It's all your fault MM! Where are you btw?

this is fun! :D :D

@Wanderlust:
:) Really bad at Hindi I am. What's funny is I used to get 94s and 97s in all my third language Hindi exams.
This was because our teacher used to give us a "model" question paper before the exam, that was in fact the actual paper.
Enjoyed it then, but now I'm suffering.

Vanti filled yes. Only for osh though, she's terribly motion sick, I'm not at all, so the ride wasnt really bad for me.

Stupid highways. Heheh. :)

Yay you liked the template!
Yay you liked the post!
Yay! I will write more of Goa when the lethargy leaves. :)

Yes, it is a mouse. A cute furry little mouse with a helmet. It makes me want to go bungee jumping for some reason.

@PS:
I have a list of several retorts but Im too lethargic to write them all. Here are a few:

PS: Pink.
Don't say that it's magenta or mauve or something like that.

1. Dont.
2. It IS Magenta.
3. You need to get over these strange little blocks of yours. Sometime soon.

I'm sorry, I'm being snappy. I've been in lil bit angry mood of late. That felt good though. Aaaaaaah.

On a different note, I hope you do get to Go Goa sometime- it's fun!

Succotash Unsuffered yippee! :)
Haha- the mouse! I so relate to it. :)

I like Magenta too!

I didnt play beach volleyball... or sit in a sail boat... went on a ferry ride though, and saw dolphins... and went on a water scooter and motor boat... Oooo and I went parasailing! :D Fun... but not as exhilarating as I'd hoped. :)

What movie is that you're talking about?

MM said...

@la: I forgot to say-
-you were always used to pink!! When were you not used to pink???
and
-I hope you can GoGoa too! :)

I was never used to it! When you went all "ooo! pink! pink! pink!" on me I went all "Pink???" accompanied by shocked expression and wrinkled nose. and “Oh.” PAUSE for 5 seconds. “Pink.” (disdainfully) and “P..pink?” (in disbelief)
thinking you might perhaps be taking me for a ride.
all at the same time.

I'm quoting you in case you didn't notice.

But then I spent that next two years with you (and you got that pink jacket and I thought "oh my!") and stopped minding it... :D

See? It is all your fault I'm getting used to it. I wouldn't even mind getting some pink clothes. I happen to have nothing wearable in pink btw. I realised on "Pink day" But then, there were about four people in all of college wearing pink that day so I figured I wasn't alone... :P :D

ok im suffering you with the succatash again! too much time with no new blog! your helmeted mousie makes me want to write a 20 page scientific and emperical paper on humane mousetraps!
maybe you should write a wonder poem pretending to be a love poem like La!
and maybe you should change the colour to green, purple and yellow stripes... just to see what happens. Way more intresting than bungee jumping i think!
I was talking abt Dil Chahata Hai! it was not that long ago for gods sake! Public memory is so short @#$%#%%#^^*&$ (curses)
I'm in a bad mood too can you tell?

:D you sound more like you were woken up in the middle of the night by an insanely strong cup of caffein and hit on the head by a brick wrapped in a lemon (you know where I got that from right?)

if you start your own blog and rant and rave there, it'll be very interesting to read... :D

I'm in a good mood, can you tell? :)

@Dear Succatash Sufferer:
Thank you very much for your kind interest and constant support in this blog. It is much appreciated. :)

Due to unfortunate circustances, I find myself in the painful situation of being indisposed for any blog activity this week. (Read: I have five gazillion assignments to submit !!!!! Aaaaaaaargh!!!!!! ... and a coupla parties coming up too... hehe)

I will write a new post as soon as I possibly can. I must ask you to kindly accept my sincere attempt at renovation, as a token of my gratitude in your interest, and to please make do with the cat and the blue till I post something more substantial.

Very best regards and wishes
- Flurried Blog owner MM
